I am a single mother with a full time job and I want.. NEED to go back to school any suggestions?

I am a single mother with a full time job and I want.. NEED to go back to school. People tell me that there are resources out there for financial aid for single mothers, but apparently I'm not following the right avenues. I have loans in default at a university from years ago but the problem with that is I barely make enough now to just get by, much less pay off that loan therefore FAFSA has rejected me.
